‘Galerie Krikhaar 1963-1988’

text: Helena Stork
Dutch (with English summary)
1999, Waanders, Zwolle, the Netherlands
192 pages

Herman Krikhaar, Works on Paper is published fifteen years after Herman Krikhaar, paintings tableaux. This volume surveys the years when Herman Krikhaar worked on canvas and paper, which he realized with enormous energy and concentration. This volume’s emphasis is on his works on paper, which were created as independent artworks, sometimes serving as painting studies. The material – various sorts of paper, wallpaper, or cardboard etc. – is fertile ground for experimentation and serves as an inspiring medium for his endless stream of ideas. In Amsterdam, as well as in the South of France, he created hundreds of works on paper, which can be read as a journal of impressive, sad, funny, and fantastic moments. The incredible power and vitality that radiates from his work is striking.
