ECHOES OF LIGHT: WHOSE ARE THOSE COLORS?

This exhibition is a continuation and transformation of the show ‘Whose Are These Colors?’ originally held in D.A.C. Dolceacqua, Italy. While preserving the spirit of the first edition, this new iteration will be re-contextualized at the Herman Krikhaar Foundation, located near the Gorges du Verdon, VAR, in southern France.

This exhibition will once again bring together two artists with distinct sensibilities, both working with traditional Japanese materials – gold and silver leaf – exploring the dialogue between light and space. While the previous show unfolded beneath a symbolic dome, this iteration embraces the natural ligt, opens of architecture and quiet air unique to the southern French landscape, all of which will play integral roles in the exhibitions composition.

And light flickers through the air and memory of a place.”

This exhibition seeks to unravel the elements behind the phenomenon of color – time, memory and atmosphere.

The Herman Krikhaar Foundation’s architecture, with its harmonious relationship with natural light and its quiet, historic presence, offers a unique stage for dialogue with the luminous materiality of leaf. Through this, a space is created that gently opens up the viewer’s inner sensibilities.
